Do I Need Anti-Virus Software On My PC ?

Updated on January 31, 2016

I still see that many people are confused about using anti-virus software on their computers. I have a friend who is a computer repair tech and whenever I have time I’ll stop in to his shop and spend a few hours with him, I see many people who bring in their computers with viruses on them and no anti-virus software installed, than they are wondering why their computer is loaded with viruses .Also what I see to is after my friend has fixed their computers and removed all the viruses he will than installed anti-virus software on their computers, they sometimes come back to his shop or call him and they are mad because they again have a virus on their computer. Because they were thinking that now they have anti-virus software on their computer that they will never get a virus again. If it was only that simple, there is no virus software free or that you buy that will stop you from ever get viruses on your computer, they will warn you when you have a virus or some may even remove the virus from your computer but that it.

I like and have used for years AVG anti-virus software and never had any problem with it. And the new AVG 2011 free edition is awesome, they have redesign it from top to bottom and made it much better. It now is much easier to install and it also scans your computer much faster. It will also scan all your emails, both incoming and outgoing so you won’t get a virus in a email or a virus can not send all your friends a virus. It will also give you some protection on the internet by using AVG LinkScanner. and scanning each page of a web site before you open it, it will also scan links sent in a email from Facebook and MySpace. Facebook and myspace not set by default. Also AVG now will do a separate anti-rootkit scan on your computer has well.

Whatever anti-virus software you use is up to you, what you feel will protect your computer the best, has long has you are not surfing the internet with no anti-virus protection on your computer. Because that is like putting out a welcome mat for virus writers to test their virus on you computer. And without any anti-virus software on your computer you will not know you have a virus on your computer till it is too late and then your computer will no longer boot up. Then you’ll have to spend a lot of money to get your computer up and running and remove all the viruses. Install some anti-virus software on your computer today, it’s the best thing you can do for your computer.

There is only one sure way to guarantee 100% you will never get a virus or spyware on your computer ever again, and the only way to do that is to unplug your internet connection and not go on the internet any more. And for most of us that is not a option.
