Fake Security Software

By

Scammers are now sending out  these  anti-malware warnings to popular browsers to trick Windows users into downloading fake security software, users of the browsers IE, Firefox and Chrome are targeted.

Many  malicious Web sites are displaying a fake versions of the alerts when users come across these pages suspected of containing  attack code, Rather than simply warn users that the page they're about to visit may be dangerous  as do the genuine alerts, Their versions also include a  message that suggests you need to  download a browser security update. But has we all know, or should know is no anti-malware warning screen or any web site other than Windows Update site should be tell you that you need a security update for your browser or for that matter a Windows security update.

Anyone who accepts the update actually downloads the fake software, often called "scareware" it then overwhelms users with endless fake infection pop up warnings until people pay them money to buy the useless program that often end up give them a virus.

Even the most experienced user can be tricked by these sites. Users who refuse the download updates have their computers attacked by a exploit toolkit that includes attack code for 10 different vulnerabilities in Windows, has well has other software on their computers. Windows computers that have been kept up to date with patches will be protected from the exploit kit, that’s why it is so very important to always keep everything updated and install any patches for Windows.

Malware authors are not lazy and very smart and always looking for new tricks and traps to fool the users into buying their fake software.  The similarity between the fake warning pages and the real thing is so accurate that it can trick even the most highly trained eyes in not being able to tell the difference .

These fake software makers have made at least $150 million by tricking people into buying their fake crapware. It's no surprise that scareware dealers are constantly looking for new ways to trick users into downloading their useless software, It's a serious business, that why you have to be one step ahead of them and be smart whenever your on the internet.

During 2009, to 20010, more than 250 different fake programs tried to infected more than 40 million machines worldwide with their fake software and fake messages.

The only way to keep them from putting their  crapware on your computer is by getting Windows updates and by keeping all your software updated . And always get any patches for Windows and all your software when they are available.  And never download any security updates for your computer at any web site other than Windows download page .These malware dealers will do anything to get their junk software on your computer, that why you must stay one step a head of them, because  it is very hard to get  their malware off your computer once it is on.  Remember he who is safe and smart and downloaded all the windows updates and patches for their computers, keeps their computers surfing the internet highway smoothly and keeps it out of the computer repair shop.
